eSellerate Security Update for Macintosh SDK/Engine
Posted in eSellerate on the March 8th, 2005
eSellerate today released a new SDK for Macintosh to address a vulnerability in the eSellerate engine. An attacker could potentially exploit this vulnerability to bypass eSellerate Product Activation and activate software without authorization.
The updated SDK is version 3.6.1, and it includes several enhancements that allow it to detect an altered eSellerate engine.
To take full advantage of the security features in this update, we recommend that you do the following:
- Download the new SDK at http://www.esellerate.net/sdk
- In your application’s source code, use the API call InstallEngine immediately before any call that requires the eSellerate engine. Calling InstallEngine replaces an altered eSellerate engine, if one is present.
- Recompile your application with the new eSellerate libraries, and include the new eSellerate engine as a resource.
- Make the new application available to your customers.
