Unfortunately, as well as dropping the commision to 2.9% +$1, they’ve also added a pre-ticked box to templates opting customers in to spam, and also force vendors to try to trick customers into paying for ‘download protection’, which in most cases is completely unnecesay anyway (since most vendors already offer to replace lost downloads for free). Finally, you also have to agree to allow them to promote unrelated products to your customers after sale completion. SWREG have publicly stated that they will be ‘aggressively going after customers for symantec’. So I guess that’s what they are going to be promoting.
There are a lot of people of the SWREG forum who are very unhappy about this, and there’s absolutely no way I’m switching onto this new scheme (I’m currenly on one of their higher commision - but no bullshit - schemes).
As a result of this, and a generally unprofessional attitude recently (such as making significant changes to the system without bothering to tell anyone in advance), many vendors - myself included, are starting to seriously look elsewhere.
This is a shame, as SWREG used to be very good, but since being sold a year or so ago, things have changed.
