SWREG to Implement Simplified VAT Rules and MN Sales Tax

Now that SWREG is technically USA based we need to advise you of policy changes regarding VAT and Sales tax.

1. Sales made to Minnesota residents will be charged 6.5% sales tax. SWREG will need to do this as soon as possible and will issue a further statement once this has been done.
2. On the 1st July SWREG will go live with Simplified VAT. That means that SWREG will apply the VAT rate for each EU country instead of a single 17.5% rate.
3. Intermediate Level users need do nothing.
4. Advanced Level users will be provided with a script to look up the VAT percentage against the country name. You will need to set to zero percent for any products SWREG has agreed to set at zero percent (i.e. CDs being sent from outside the EU). You will of course know what those products are and act accordingly. The system will go live at 0.01 am on the 1st July.
5. On this date SWREG will stop charging VAT for orders that pass the very basic VAT verification process. SWREG will provide a script for this.
